Between 1996 and 2006, the CDC’s Center for Health Statistics conducted their National Survey of Ambulatory Surgery.  In their findings, their data showed that ambulatory surgery centers are faster, charge less, and use less anesthesia and more IVs than hospitals (“Report: Nimbler ASCs Win Cases From Hospitals,” Outpatient Surgery Magazine, April 2009).

From breast enlargements and face, neck and eyelid lifts to breast reduction, tummy tucks, and liposuction, we offer a wide range of services to help our patients ‘take shape’.   We also offer  many less invasive procedures at lower costs.  These range from injectibles such as Botox®, Sculptra®, Juvederm®, Radiesse®, or Restylane® to minor surgeries.

Spider vein removal, or sclerotherapy, is available, as are microdermabrasion, chemical peels, CO2 lasering, and the Obaji® skin care line.  Laser hair removal is often done for the nape of the neck, the bikini line, or the upper lip.  This is not limited to women; many men also prefer a hairless look.   Many medispa services are available from our on-staff medical aesthetician.

Dr. Sassani adds:

Equally important, we perform preventative procedures to ward off skin cancer.  For pre-cancer skin lesions, we perform excision removals.  This preventative measure not only saves the patient time and expense, it also helps ensure the patient’s quality of life.

Above all, care must be taken when seeking a ‘deal’ for these services.  It is always very tempting to go to the cheapest game in town.  Remember, you are making permanent changes that can be irreversible or costly to correct.  Unfortunately, there are many who are undertrained in performing procedures best left to the experts.  Do your homework.  Being referred by a satisfied patient or a qualified medical professional is best.

Dr. Russell Sassani is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.  His residency training in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery was at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.  He has additional specialized post-residency fellowship training in craniomaxillofacial surgery (University of Miami), hand surgery (University of Pennsylvania), and cosmetic surgery (with the renowned Drs. Baker, Gordon, and Stuzin in Miami).   

During the course of his extensive training, Dr. Sassani has engaged in several areas of research, authoring and presenting a number of scientific papers at both the regional and the national levels. He is also active locally in the education of medical students and residents.  His particular areas of interest and expertise are cosmetic surgery of the face, plastic surgery of the breast (enlargement, reduction and reconstruction) body contour surgery (liposuction and tummy tucks) and laser skin resurfacing. His reconstructive interests and expertise include reconstruction after facial trauma, reconstruction after cancer surgery, burn reconstruction, and hand surgery.

He is a member of: the American Society of Plastic Surgeons; the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons; and the Broward County Society of Plastic Surgeons and is also on staff at: Westside Regional Medical Center; Plantation General Hospital; and Broward General Hospital.
